How OCD Challenge Helped Me

OCD CHALLENGE BANNER NEW LOOK

“I would have given up long ago but for the support of the Peace of Mind Foundation”– Yulia

Yulia has struggled with perfectionism OCD since she was ten years old. She lives in Moscow, Russia where OCD is not talked Screen Shot 2018-11-27 at 3.17.11 PMabout and treatment is hard to find. By the time she was 15 years old, she was engaging in rituals that made school and other activities seem impossible. It wasn’t until she was in college that she found an article that put a name to what she was going through. Unfortunately, the article stated that OCD was incurable without a single word about treatment options. Yulia felt completely devastated. However, she continued to search for help and hope.

Several days later, Yulia found Dr. Elizabeth McIngvale’s advocacy work and the Peace of Mind Foundation. Yulia had finally found hope. She began using the Peace of Mind Foundation’s OCD Challenge program as a way to learn to manage her OCD. Through the program, she began learning the principles of Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP). With little family supports and resources in her area, Yulia worked through the program on her own to take control over her OCD. Once she finally found a CBT specialist, the specialist couldn’t believe the amount of progress Yulia had made on her own. Today, Yulia has received her master’s in psychology and has been growing OCD resources in her community.

Try the OCD Challenge for yourself.

OCD Challenge is an online, interactive, behavioral program designed to help people suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. The program was built by psychologists who are leaders in the field of behavior therapy and have a specialization in the area of OCD. OCD Challenge has three Modules: Assessment, Gaining Awareness and Intervention. Users will be guided through the Modules and taught skills and strategies for managing their OCD behavior. OCD Challenge uses the principles of exposure and response prevention (the treatment of choice for OCD) to help the user to confront and challenge their OCD. OCD Challenge is not therapy and there is not a therapist on the other end of the computer telling you what to do. Instead, OCD Challenge is a program built to interact with the user in a way that is interesting, useful, and moves the user toward change.
